Associate Circus Director Awards
Circelation is proud to announce three new Associate Circus Director Awards have now been made.
The three awardees will be placed at a producing venue for a rolling period of 6 months developing their work, building audiences for circus arts, and developing the infrastructure for circus arts locally and regionally.
The awardees are…
Helen Crocker – York Theatre Royal
Gavin Marshall – Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich
Wendy Hesketh – Contact, Manchester
Each awardee will receive a bursary of £10,000 and will collaborate closely with the Artistic, Technical and Management teams in their venue to create a programme of work in the coming months which aims to :
- provide career growth for three mid career circus directors to break into mainstream theatre practise
- develop knowledge of and confidence in programming and presenting circus within three venues
- advocate for the value of circus arts across the three host regions
- create three programmes of visiting circus work and three new productions
- build audiences for new circus within the host venues and potentially on national tour
